Bruges 2000

Well, what can we say about Bruges 2000 except AGAIN ! AGAIN ! So much fun (and beer) in one weekend; it felt like a week !
Peter Davies organised a convoy, starting from Thurrock Services on the M25. Annette and I started out from home with nasty grey skies. But that didn't stop us from putting the top down !
We were the first to arrive at Thurrock, so we went into the services to get some breakfast. Looking around the shop I finally found the mascot I've been looking for for so long !
Mr. Toad lives !

So then it was a case of meeting up with everyone else, wandering around aimlessly for a while & the hitting the road to meet up with another convoy at a later set of services. I won't bore anyone with the details of the ferry crossing, needless to say we didn't sink, I got to park next to a Ferrari F50, and eveyone got over the other side OK. So I put my top down again, leave the ferry & discover it's p*****g down with rain ! Bum.

Parked at Dover  I offered him a swop, but he wasn't interested !  Mike getting the obligatory Union Jack flag sorted  The front of the line - we're trying to stop his headlights from popping up !  Mike doing his armchair impression

A quick re-grouping stop later (where I put the roof up !) and we're off to Bruges. We have a quick stop at some services just outside, because the convoy is splitting up to go to the different hotels. Somehow Annette and I get voulunteered to navigate to the Sint Jan car park, where Mr. Toad will be living over the weekend.
Carol, Gillian, Andrew and Annette at the services  Mr. Toad on foreign soil for the 1st time (if you don't count Japan !)  Andrew parked photogenicaly next to a bin !  All the UK cars ready to hit Bruges :-)

And so we hit Bruges, found Sint Jan the fist time (thanks for navigating so well Annette & Mr. Toad; I just followed instructions !), and parked up. We walked to the hotel, which was just 5 minutes away, to find that the folks who had car parking space at the hotel were completely blocking the road waiting to get in, much to the amusement (not) of the locals !
Once We'd checked in to our room (Very nice, with luxury round bath! - thanks Ronald), we went for a walk before meeting up in the restaurant for dinner. And a few beers;
Andrew, Carol, Tim and Annette  Carol, Tim, me, Annette and Andrew  Tim with ALL the beer !  Mike Looking with envious eyes at all the beer on our table ;-)  It's photo time !  Now if Sue thinks she can get out of the photo just by leaning over...... (or was it just the beer ?)  Gillian, Emma and Annette sampling the local Amaretto.
And So to Bed !
